Depending on what your BMI number is, it will tell you if you fall in the categories of underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese. There numbers, respectively, are < 18.5, 18.5-24.9, 25-29.9, >30.
Much like a height and weight chart, calculating your Body Mass Index is a great reference point to see if your weight and height correlation is healthy or not. As many other factors can come into play, such as athletes generally have a higher BMI because muscle mass weighs more than fat, you should use the BMI calculation as a starting point and then consult a doctor with any concerns.
If your BMI is in the overweight or obese categorie, you should definitely think about looking into a healthier diet and a consistent fitness program. As studies have shown, excessive body fat and obesity is directly related to heart and other health related issues.
Look at eating smaller meals more throughout the day compared to 3 large meals each day. This will keep your metabolism up and your body will not store as much fat after each meal.
Also, consult with a personal trainer or do some online research on fitness programs. If you have never exercised before it may seem difficult to you, but remember, this is your life we are talking about and it took you however many years to get where you currently are at (probably over 20 years). You need to push yourself each and every time you exercise and not give up.
